Some Things We Look For
Accessibility
If search engines and users can’t access your site, it might as well not exist. With that in mind, let’s make sure your site’s pages are accessible. This will include reviewing the site’s robot.txt file and other robot meta data, cataloging redirects, XML sitemaps, etc.
- Create and /or edit all necessary documents to ensure benefits are maximized for accessibility
- Install redirect softwares or plug-ins
- Repair Links, delete unnecessary redirects, convert all “400” redirects to “300” redirects
- Create/edit/repair XML sitemap
- Remove any unnecessary metadata
Indexability
Next, we need to determine how many of the website’s pages are actually being indexed by the search engines. We will be looking to see how/where the site’s pages are actually being displayed in Google currently.
- Repair pages that aren’t being indexed
- These results need to be cataloged so we can compare results/growth in the future
On-Page Ranking Factors
We’ve analyzed the accessibility and indexability of your site. Now it’s time to turn our attention to the characteristics of your site’s pages that influence the site’s search engine rankings. This will include cataloging the pages for proper metadata and titling, Checking individual page bounce rates, and checking with code validators.

- Research best possible keyword phrases for each page
- Utilizing research, craft meta-descriptions
Off-Page Ranking Factors
Next, we’re going to focus on the ranking factors that are generated by external sources. Here we will be looking at security, malware, blacklisting, and “Spammy” behavior.
